    Training Dates

    Our new modular yoga teacher training program is designed to help you become a yoga teacher without committing a large block of contiguous time to the training. We have broken the program into modules so it's easier for you to attain your certification in smaller more manageable time commitments

  • CYA – Teacher Training Yoga Anatomy – 30Hr. Accreditation Points

    If you are yoga student moving into a teacher role or are already certified but looking to refresh and learn more, this course is for you. Condensed into one extra-long weekend, you will be immersed in anatomy, physiology, and some kinesiology, and it’s all relative and practical for yoga. Gain a fundamental understanding of how the body works, reacts, moves, and feels. A grounding in anatomy helps you understand not just your students better, but yourself and your practice. This class isn’t restricted to teachers, or teacher trainees, but is also valuable to anyone looking to deepen their understanding of the body and how it moves.

    Thursday - 6pm till 8:30pm

    Introduction: Welcome and getting to know each other – light asana warm-up – syllabus review – opening Q&A

    Section #1: The Shoulder Joint Complex — axial & appendicular skeletons, planes of section, plum line, rotator cuff, scapular stabilization, scapulohumeral rhythm, pathology: tendinitis, bursitis, scoliosis

    Friday - 8:30am till 4:30pm plus 4 hr assignment in evening (due next day)

    Section #2: The Knee Joint — types of cartilage, tendons & ligaments, quadriceps, patella, knee joint as a hinge, ligamental attachments, meniscus, synovial fluid, fascia, scar tissue, pathology: patellar tracking disorder

    Lunch & Social: light asana “shake it off” – review Q&A

    Section #3: The Spine — vertebral column, stages of disc herniation, ribcage, nerve bundles, bony relationships, bio-tensegrity structure

    Saturday - 8:30am till 4:30pm plus 4 hr assignment in evening (due next day)

    Section #4: Breathing — core, muscle actions, attachments, fiber direction, respiration, intra-abdominal pressure, thoracic diaphragm

    Section #5: Muscle Functionality — types of joints, joint articulation, types of muscle contraction, muscle receptors, reciprocal inhibitory reflex, posterior chain, mechanical advantage, hamstrings, sacroiliac joint, psoas major

    Sunday - 8:30am till 4:30pm (Certification at end)
