Can a Naturopath Help Me?
Wondering if you have a concern that a naturopathic doctor can address? Naturopathic medicine is able to meet your interests, either in preventing disease or helping you become as healthy as you can be. Naturopathic Doctors are primary health care practitioners, which means that they can treat many of the same conditions as a family doctor. In the event that a Naturopathic Doctor is unable to treat your condition, he or she will refer appropriately.
-Autism Spectrum Disorder
-Detox and Heavy Metal Toxicity
-Heart Disease and High Cholesterol
-Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Multiple Chemical Sensitivity
-Colds, Flus, Asthma, and Immune Function
-Menopause and Hormonal Imbalances
-Depression and Anxiety
-Eczema, Psoriasis, and other skin disorders
-Support in maintaining the health of the elderly
And the list goes on.....
-complimentary care to the treatments you receive from your medical doctor
-acupuncture, both for systemic concerns and local symptoms
-clinical nutrition for general health, the avoidance of allergens, and supplementing specific deficiencies
-comprehensive testing (hormones, bacteria, viruses, parasites, heavy metals, minerals, food allergies/intolerances, etc.) along with many of the same tests your medical doctor can order
-herbal and botanical therapy
-homeopathic remedies, both for acute conditions and also for chronic conditions
Most importantly, you will be individually assessed and receive your own comprehensive treatment plan, which you will have the opportunity to thoroughly discuss with the doctor.
Dielle also occasionally hosts talks at her clinic in North Bay and at the Ohana location.
There are many lessons that I have learned in life. I know what it is like to move too fast, feel out of control, think that I am on my game when really I was on autopilot and spiraling into self-destruction. Always planning, always worrying and always being attached to the drama or the situation at hand, trying to fix it all and keep it all together.
Then one day it felt like I broke, like my mind and my body couldn’t handle anymore, I was living in a state of “fright and flight” and I felt like I was trapped in a body that could no longer function in a regular way. I was 33 years old at the time, diagnosed fibromyalgia, chronic pain, adrenal fatigue; you name it the list went on. For 3 years I was tested, poked, prodded, operated on, psychoanalysed, counselled and I felt still felt like I was trapped in a body that no longer wanted to move or live with vibrancy. My Mind had also taken a turn for the worst, negative thoughts and beliefs had taken over, allowing the scripts from the past to take over, squashing any self-confidence, self-love or self-belief.
At the time it seemed like I was doomed, unable to figure out how to get out of the swirl that I was stuck in. Not realizing that by pushing through life, not pausing and that being super busy in all that I do was more of an avoidance tactic than a effectively finding a way through the situation that I was in. It’s like you’re course is to turn right, but you force yourself to go left because you just don’t want to feel and see what is really taking place in your life (If I can avoid it, I can steer clear of it). The perpetual hamster wheel was going fast and my body and brain were shutting down because I didn’t know how to stop it anymore… I needed tools and ways of finding and creating new tools that would work for me. Don’t get me wrong… It’s ok to live a busy life, but at that point, I didn’t know how to take care of myself. I needed to become more resilient, more effective and bring more meaning to my life. I wanted to have my life become more deliberate and more beautiful each day. But I didn’t know where to start?
Over time, practice and perseverance, I have learned that I create my life, I am the one in charge and that I am the one who chooses what to believe in and how I live. I no longer allow the scripts and the programming from my earlier years to override my success and happiness. I live in the driver’s seat without feeling like I am on autopilot. Am I busy? YES, does life still ebb and flow YES, but I remember and to pause and keep account of myself, my actions and my time. I am now in control of my own pace. I get to choose the tempo, the rhythm, and I know when I need to slow down or when I need to pick up the pace. No matter what the pace is, I have the ability to be present at all times and aware. It makes all the difference for me and my life.
Where I am now, what’s my path?
I thrive on learning and doing, I am a lifelong learner… in the more practical of sense first, life lessons, and I live life! For the past 16years (plus) I have been growing and developing myself as well as two successful businesses, and a program in the mental health wards of our local hospital. By trade I am a Graphic Designer (23 yrs plus now). I was working in a government affiliated health and safety organization for Ontario for over 15 years, building training courses, corp branding, public awareness campaigns etc.. I own a successful freelance communications, publications and branding business. I also created and still own and operate a successful yoga and wellness studio (16 years plus), I develop, and teach classes, workshops and retreats. If I total my work journey in these fields, I have well over 30plus years in just the health and wellness world alone.
I have travelled to India, United States and a variety of places in Canada for certifications as a yoga instructor/teacher trainer, yoga therapy, myofascial release techniques, certified life coach, breath and mindfulness strategies, and the list goes on. I am a big thinker, I look and I question the systems and structures that our society has placed on us, the impact that they have on us. I help the people who live with them to release them, and move forward in their life so they can live what their hearts desire.
Transformative change starts from within us, the minute you choose to seek and use tools that will help you move forward, you are at a start. As a life coach/mentor I will support you and help to clear the path for you, so that it is easier to choose the tools so that you can make the changes that you desire, and then eventually share these tools in your environments or to even just become your own powerful change-maker and resilience achiever. Achieving “your successful life” is possible in whatever capacity that you choose.
On the home front, I am a mother, a wife, an artist, a creative life loving person, who embraces life and lives a life of yoga, meditation and an integral life practice. In my off time, I like to boat, be in nature, be creative and spend time with my loved ones. Life is one big exploration!

"I had tried yoga a couple times before but just didn't think it was for me. The first class at Ohana, I new it was the place for me, where I needed to be. There is no yoga like Nicky's yoga!! Nicky is such a wealth of knowledge and has such a loving heart. Of coarse after every class you feel great, but the first major thing I noticed was I could breathe thru my nose better than I've been able to my whole life. That is not why I was going to yoga classes, but that's the cool thing about yoga; it helps you in so many different ways. I herniated a disc in my lower back over 20 years ago. I struggled with several flareups a years lasting for weeks. Since staring at Ohana, I hardly have any flareups; they aren't near as severe, and only last a few days.
Nicky has so many disciplines and is so intuitive and giving. When you book a private session with her, she often knows what your needs are before you do. She puts together a toolbox and / or a program just for you, and makes adjustments as your needs change.
It has been so amazing having Nicky on this jouney with me!!
Darren has been teaching yoga for ten years and practicing for twelve. He is one of Canada’s first certified OmGym® instructors and his background in kinesiology, anatomy, and eastern holistic practices brings a unique depth to his teachings. Darren is a certified Reiki Master, Chek® HLC2, and has over twenty five years practicing various martial arts, and meditation. With all of this combined, you can expect a focus on the mind body connection, helping you to maximize the efficiency of movement and thought.
“Naturally Well’s Darren Renaud suggested I try myofascial release treatments to address a number of areas in my body which constantly experience chronic aches, pain and tightness restricting movement and interfering with sleep. Darren explained the treatment which is a manual, hands-on technique, very different from traditional massage therapy. Slowly applying a gentle pressure to the skin, he unraveled the knots and got to the root of the problem softening restricted areas, releasing pressure and pain, restoring motion and improving function. In my case, the sensation after a treatment is some mild stiffness which quickly dissipates. This is replaced with a long lasting openness in the problem areas. It’s wonderful to finally feel “nothing” in those nagging spots!
Darren is definitely a very gifted therapist with his instinctive understanding of the body, he can tune into what and where healing is needed, locating and uncovering restrictions. With the upmost professionalism and easy conversation, he encourages you to communicate what feels good, what doesn’t, helping you to tune into your body. He shares all sorts of tidbits on postural and movement awareness along with self-treatment instruction to enhance and maintain optimal overall health.
No need to accept that this pain is your reality for life, there is hope! I highly recommend the wonderful care and treatments that Darren provides which are very helpful in pain management and elimination.”DL
Many moons ago, Vicki was an actor, a traveller, and a key player in establishing one of North America’s most beloved tea companies. She also worked as an English teacher in Canada, Japan, and Poland.
More than a decade later, she has put away the scripts, the backpack, and the tea leaves in order to focus her energy on mothering, writing, and practising kind, gentle, and empowering medicine.
A personal health crisis is what nudged her in the direction of natural medicine and, eventually, into the world of Traditional Chinese Medicine—a medicine that continues to amaze and inspire her daily.
She is a graduate of Queen’s University, the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, and Toronto’s renowned Institute of Traditional Medicine. A forever student, she is currently studying Contemplative End-of-Life Care at the Institute and hopes to soon offer end-of-life care services in the North.
She interned with Kaleb Montgomery (Founder of Fertility Toronto) at the Toronto Institute for Reproductive Medicine (ReproMed) and spent three years doing clinical work at the Toronto People with Aids Foundation (PWA). She is grateful to have studied with international leaders in the fields of Chinese Medicine and Nutrition, such as Paul Pitchford (Healing with Whole Foods), Lorie Dechar (Alchemical Acupuncture for Spiritual Healing), and Lillian Bridges (Chinese Face Reading), to name but a few.
Her recent return to the North was motivated primarily by a deep and unshakeable desire to live, work, and raise her babies in a natural setting—in a place where there are more trees than skyscrapers and where the stars are visible at night, every night.
As a practitioner, Vicki has a special interest in treating anxiety and depression, insomnia and other sleep disorders, fertility, pregnancy and post-partum issues, hormonal and menstrual imbalances, allergies and asthma, digestive troubles, as well as the side effects of chemotherapy. Her heart-centred approach is rooted in the rhythm of the seaons. It is integrative, respectful, and honours each client’s individual journey.
A lifelong writer, Vicki’s words have been published in various publications, have been translated into German, and have earned her various awards and accolades.
Her first book, brave new mama—a celebration of the magic and the madness of the first-year of motherhood—was named “one of the best new mom gifts of 2018” by BabyCare Mag and “one of the best fall items to cozy up with” by The Bump to Baby Show Toronto. It is a repeat bestseller on Amazon.
You can learn more about her healing work at www.mahinamedicine.com and more about her writing at www.vickirivard.com. (She hopes to eventually consolidate both sites, but hasn’t quite figured out how yet!)
Vicki is thrilled to be practising at Ohana and looks foward to connecting with many members of the community. She encourages anyone who is curious about Chinese Medicine and how it may or may not help them to contact her for a free, 10-minute phone assessment.

I knew from very early on that I wanted to be able to help people on an everyday basis. I graduated in 1994 with my Early Childhood Education Diploma, and am a Registered Early Childhood Educator. I went on to receive my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Welfare in 1997. Having experienced some health issues of my own and not being completed fulfilled with my career at the time, I decided it was time for me to explore how I could change my life and the lives of others on a more direct level. I completed my Integrative Nutrition Health Coach certification from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, as well as became a certified Level 1 and Level 2 Reiki Practitioner. My mission in life is to help others achieve their goals, so that they can live the happiest, healthiest life possible. I’d love to share your journey with you!
I am an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and I provide one on one sessions that empower and project you into a wealth of health and happiness.
The majority of clients that I have empowered are women in their 40’s who are trying to make themselves a priority after years of being the caregiver to their families, however, I am capable of coaching men, and children with a wide range of health and wellness issues. We set small, achievable goals that will have a long term impact on their health and happiness. I use a holistic approach, including career, relationships, physical activity and spirituality as the building blocks of success.
