  • Karma Week Schedule February 8 to 13th

    Monday - our starting class - Welcome to Ohana & to KARMA WEEK
    6:00pm - Yoga with Nicky, Linda & Michelle (90min)

    Everyone’s body is different, some are strong, some are flexible, we are all different sizes, shapes and we all move differently. This class will emphasis on where to start and where to go. You have three instructors, with you, each with their own journeys and their own styles with a combined expertise of over 60 years of yoga. No matter where you’re at with this practice you will benefit. The class can be done by EVERYbody, you can modify the poses, by even just rocking if they feel too much for you. You could also follow along on a chair if you wish and do what you can, the most important thing to remember is that your doing, and it’s your body/your yoga! 

    Things you will need: mat, blanket or LRG bath towel, 2 blocks (if you have them), strap, bolster or pillow (2 pillows maybe)

    This is a balanced class designed to help the practitioners with reducing aches and pains, de-stress, breath better, gain balance and strength, it can be done by EVERYbody, you can modify the poses, by even just rocking if they feel too much for you. You could also follow along on a chair if you wish. Remember the most important thing is that your doing, your body/your yoga! This is a really balanced class, using breath, asana (poses), meditation and sound.

    Curious to see what Ohana’s Samasta Connection is all about? - Come and join Samasta’s “Open House” on

    Tuesday (February 9th) at 6:30 p.m. – 7:45.

     We’re excited to extend a very warm invitation for you to attend our free kick-off session where you can: - Meet the facilitators; - Meet those who have signed up for the entire program; - Hear from those who are cohorts of Samasta 2020; - Understand the purpose and benefits of the program; - Gain special tools, a sampling of what is offered weekly; - Take part (or not) in a group discussion entitled, “Lessons Learned.” - Decide to join the 2021 Samasta Connection cohort, if desired, so you’re prepared to attend the program launch next Tuesday, February 16th

    Wednesday - 3 classes to choose from (or take them all) 
    9:00am - Fascia Massage & Yoga with Nicky - aches & pains be gone, it’s like going for a deep tissue massage (60min)
    This class works like a massage for the whole body, it is a yoga therapy class that really gets into those tight achy spots. Helping to release tight sore muscles & fascia, works the lymphatic system, general stiffness and chronic pain. Great for EVERYbody from the active to the not so active, persons diagnosed with cancer, autoimmune diseases, chronic fatigue, diabetes and more. We work from head to toe and the class does cause sensation, but it works!– All levels
    Modifications may be necessary, ask Nicky which modifications will work for you. 

    Things you will need: Yoga Ball (Tennis or Squash Ball ok), Strap, Blanket big enough to make a roll with, bare wall, and a foam roller

    10:30am Ohana’s Chair & Balance Class with Nicky - Stay on your feet balance, stretch & movement  (60min)
    This class has been designed by Nicky Poulin, Yoga Instructor/Therapist/Teacher Trainer for EVERYbody. Created for seniors, those recovering from operations, mobility issues, and more! This class assists the practitioner to increase mobility, range of motion, strength, balance, flexibility, coordination, and more. This class also includes mindfulness practices, breath work, brain body work and stress management techniques. Part of it’s goals are to decrease falls or fall prevention, promote healthy aging or for those that just haven’t been active in a while! There is something in this class that all will benefit from. All levels are welcome and the class really promoted DOING & Completing more that perfection! Go where you can, do what you can, and have fun while your doing it!

    Things you will need: Chair (without arms - kitchen chair or card table chair works well), bath towel, mat (for non-skid if you have one), yoga strap or rope or bathrobe tie if you have one, soft ball if you have one, 1inch dowel

    6:00pm - Yoga with Nicky & Linda - diving deeper into your practice. (90min)
    Breath, Sound, Asana (poses), meditation, Yama's the Niyama's and more. You are a beginner willing to dive into a more traditional approach to your yoga practice or you've been practicing for a while and want more. This class is more than a beginners, but a beginner can do it, it's emphasizing on a mindful approach to your practice, digging deeper into your body, mind and and your heart center giving you an experience of working a little harder, but with compassion and awareness for where you are on the mat and what you bring to your mat when you practice. Yoga is more than an exercise, it is a union between the body and the brain and each practice brings on an experience!

    6:30pm – Restful Restorative with Linda, savour an hour to restore, relax & revive TGIF time to unwind (60 min)

    This restorative yoga practice is all about slowing down and opening your body through passive stretching. During the long holds of restorative yoga, however, your muscles are allowed to relax deeply. It's a unique feeling because props, rather than your muscles, are used to support your body. Some the Benefits include? Enhances flexibility, Deeply relaxes the body, Stills the mind, Improves capacity for healing, Balances nervous system, Boosts immune system, Develops qualities of compassion and understanding toward others and self, Enhances mood states.

    Saturday - two classes to choose from (or take them both) 

    8:30am Yin with Nicky - Softer Side of Yoga, Gentle Lower back & Hip Yin Yoga & meditation (60min)

    Bring a warm tea, wear your pyjamas if you wish. We will start out with a sip and then some breath work moving slowly and subtly into a yin yoga practice with long holds. Focusing on lower backs and hips, and a bit on shoulders. This is a gentle class for everyone, we are not even getting off the floor at the end we will finish with 15 minutes of pranayama (breath), guided meditation and some love and of course always a little sounding at the end. This is a great way to start your day.
