RENAISSANCE MAN by Darren Renaud
As published in Canadian Yoga Alliance's CANADIAN YOGI magazine: http://www.canadianyogi.com/renaissance-man.html
Life as a Renaissance Man Yogi Where to begin on this tale of how yoga has woven a thread of change through my life and its transitions and challenges. A friend, long ago, and even before I discovered yoga always called me the modern renaissance man. I was puzzled at first, as my impression was of the old painters, but once I got to understand those old masters, I connected to what my friend had seen in me. I have done and perused many and very[...]

For us 2016 was a year of lessons, a year of forgiveness, a year of new ideas and old coming together and at the very end finding harmony in both and a whole bunch of healing. The healing came from all areas business, personal, etc., and by end of December we were able to lay some things to rest. With love, pride, and most of all respect of ourselves and those around us.
2017 shows the promise of new birth, ideas and growth in a calm yet exciting way... as I sit in front of my computer writing you this... I smile, knowing that for so many (including myself and my family) 2016 was a tough [...]

A Christmas note from Nicky
"May your days be merry and bright"
Well 2016 is almost at an end and as I reflect back I think... wow it went so fast! All in all it was a great year, full of twists and turns... truly a good learning over all.
An update on our family, we are healthy, happy and on our way to making our paths and life choices the best way that we know how. Learning as a family and as individuals how to walk our path. For the most part Darren and I are now empty nesters and Cole is learning those oh so wonderful lessons of balancing life, [...]
Let me start by saying, that even though I really thought I was ready to announce all the things that are going on here by this past Tuesday, I must apologise and say that I am sorry, I guess I wasn't. There are a lot of details unfolding.
Call it time, call it the universe, call it divine intervention, call it what you may, it seems that lately I am being put to the test learning patience, humility and being humbled in many areas (funny just when you think you got those lessons, oh here they come again). For as much as I walk with my heart on my sleeve, I also sometimes place so much [...]
Help I've Fallen... Follow your path!
Even the smallest of changes can bring on learning, re-ignite a spark or become a big reminder as to why you started something in the first place. It amazes me the lessons and discoveries in life the universe brings so that it can teach us, humble us and remind us of the directions that we come from so that we can continue to walk our paths, learn and grow.
Many of you know that the seed of my yoga practice, my “many” current chosen paths in life initially derived from the fact that I had become ill. As part of my recovery, (let’s call it that [...]
I believe there is potential for continued happiness in us all, we just need to recognize it. I also believe that every life event can be fulfilling.
Happiness and contentment where does one find it? There is no secret recipe for happiness at least I have not found one. Yet we continuously search for what the magic combination is to unlock the feeling of happiness and contentment. I have witnessed firsthand people of great success and them not be happy. Just as I have witnessed those without be completely happy and content. I think that is a blessing, to be able to look at [...]
Looking back on the last seven years, I can honestly say, “What a journey”. Seven years ago Darren, Cole and I embarked on building Ohana, Yoga & Wellness Centre. It was an undertaking of love that brought Ohana to us. For the love of wanting to help and serve others by using not only yoga but so many other tools and modalities so that they too may feel better, helping people learn more about themselves so that they can regain strength, health and further empower themselves with the many tools that are already inside. “Knowledge is king” someone once said to me… empower yourself [...]
