  • When you drop a stone into still waters it causes a ripple effect, and spreads out from there.

     
     

    How do you initiate a profound change or transformation in a world of six billion people, one small step, an extreme action, what is it that will make things move, change and grow. Each of us, have the capacity to change the world is small ways for better or for worse and everything we do and think affects all of the people in our lives. Then their actions or impressions then in turn passes to the people in their lives and then so on and so on. The messages we send out, be it joy, inspiration, anxiety, pain what have you, impacts and grows and manifests into whatever nature of the first spoken word or action and carries outward. Like stones dropped into still waters, your actions can move outwards and expand.

     

    I believe the impact that we have on the world is greater than we can even imagine, and the consequences of those words or choices reach farther than we could ever imagine. By making positive changes through acts of kindness we can wash the whole world in a positive light rather than a negative way.

     

    It’s like when you do a good deed for someone the recipient is then compelled to do a good deed for someone else, where someone who has been the recipient of a negative deed will be more likely to pass along negative energy. But then I think, at this moment I’m not telling you anything new. You already know this information and that even though it is tough sometimes you have and will continue to practice this for many years to come.

     

    So why was I drawn to writing about the “ripple effect”, I think because even though we all know the base of how it works we have a tendency sometimes to forget how well it works and we forget that whatever you put out there will manifest towards the outside from within. If it is negative it will resonate negative, it is positive then it will resonate positive.

     

    I think that the majority of us do not set out onto a path of self-destruction or towards the detriment of others, I just think that at some point along the way we get lost, and this “lost” feeling or intention what have you, brings us to a point where we feel stuck or that the world is out to get us because of the thoughts and actions that we have imposed upon ourselves.

     

    Every transformation, just like every ripple has a point of origin a beginning to which the intent lays. The starting point, an act of charity, a thoughtful deed, a new start, whatever it is when we “get lost” remind ourselves of the source and how we got to the intent in the first place. So what do you do when you “get lost”.

     

    Go back to basics, “My Life’s Purpose”, for me I realized a long time ago that I was here on this earth to serve, so that being said I was able to define myself in more of a generic or organic way. You see, I had a one point defined my “self-value” by what job I was doing… but that is/was not me. Once I realized, accepted and allowed, that I was to be of service for others the world opened up a whole lot more for me. I can look at whatever it is that I am doing, and quickly and easily define if I am doing “whatever act I’m doing” for the greater good. So at the moments that I “fall as a human” I can quickly pick myself up, dust myself off and carry on! Not look back and move forward again. Do I have regrets in my life of course, but I do not carry them with me, nor do I wear them like a badge. If I was to wear a badge, I would have chosen another path.

     

    When we follow our true path, when we act out of kindness when we choose the direction in which we want to flow through life, we also send that positive vibration out and it can become a “snowball effect. After all the only way to build upon a group movement is to start it off, the most important thing to remember in being productive is to choose the positive road vs the negative. Every transformation causes a ripple effect and always has a point of origin. I have learned only too well, that to react to a negative will only bring negative, so I remind myself to react to the positive and to act as graciously as I possibly can. Am I saying “don’t stick up for yourself”, absolutely not… we need to stick up for ourselves but ask yourself first, how am I looking at the situation, how do I spin it positive rather than negative.  Ahimsa - “Do no harm” is a practice that we should all take into action.

     

    Ahimsa (Sanskrit: अहिंसा; IAST: ahimsā, Pāli: avihiṃsā) is a term meaning 'not to injure' and 'compassion'. The word is derived from the Sanskrit root hiṃs – to strike; hiṃsā is injury or harm, a-hiṃsā is the opposite of this, i.e. cause no injury, do no harm.

    One act of charity, one thoughtful deed, or even one positive thought can pass from individual to individual, until it becomes a group movement or the ray of hope that saves someone’s life.

    Something as simple as a smile directed at a stranger, a compliment given to a friend, an attitude of laughter, or a thoughtful gesture can send ripples that spread among your loved ones and associates, out into your community, and finally throughout the world. You have the power to touch the lives of everyone you come into contact with and everyone those people come into contact with. The momentum of your influence will grow as your ripples moves onward and outward. One of those ripples could become a tidal wave of positivity.

     

    Allow yourself to flow in a positive manner, moving forward towards the light, if you are finding yourself in the middle of a negative swirl, figure out which way the current is going, if it is spinning in a negative direction spin it the other way… or “get out of the pool”. It doesn’t make you or the other people bad; it just means simply that you need to get out of the pool. We are not in charge nor do we have control of all things that life brings to us. The quicker we detach the better off we are, and the easier to move forward in a positive manner.
